Series History
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 68–25–5 across 98 meetings — by a wide margin the deepest series on Oklahoma’s 2026 schedule. The teams first played on November 12, 1902, a 22–5 Missouri win, and met annually from 1910 through 1995 apart from 1918, across the Big Six, Big Seven and Big Eight eras.
The series carried a trophy, the Tiger–Sooner Peace Pipe, donated in 1940 and awarded from 1929 to 1974. It was subsequently lost and is no longer contested.
Oklahoma’s longest winning streak in the series is fourteen, from 1946 to 1959. The largest margins are Oklahoma’s 77–0 win in 1986 and Missouri’s 44–10 win in 1969.
The most recent meeting was November 22, 2025 in Norman, where Oklahoma won 17–6.
What Sets This Matchup Apart
Two Big 12 Championship games shaped the modern series. In December 2007, No. 9 Oklahoma beat No. 1 Missouri 38–17 in San Antonio — Missouri had reached No. 1 for the first time in program history the week before and held it exactly one week. A year later Oklahoma won the rematch 62–21 at Arrowhead Stadium in Sam Bradford’s Heisman season.
Missouri got one back in October 2010 at Faurot Field, beating an Oklahoma team ranked first in the initial BCS standings 36–27, in front of a crowd of 71,004 on the day Missouri hosted College GameDay for the first time. The first meeting as SEC opponents came in November 2024, a 30–23 Missouri win sealed by fourteen points in the final 65 seconds.
Missouri finished 2025 at 8–5 and lost the Gator Bowl to Virginia 13–7. Eli Drinkwitz enters his seventh season with Ole Miss transfer Austin Simmons at quarterback and heavy turnover on defense. ESPN’s preseason poll has Missouri 21st.
Seating and Ticket Notes
Faurot Field is the smallest venue on Oklahoma’s 2026 road schedule, which tightens supply, but a late-November finale against a Missouri team replacing most of its defensive starters should remain one of the more affordable road tickets available.
Visiting fans are typically seated in the upper south end. Note that 2026 is the first season in the completed stadium after a major renovation, so seating maps and section numbering may differ from previous years — check the map carefully before buying.
Atmosphere and Traditions
Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium opened in October 1926, which makes 2026 its hundredth anniversary season. A $250 million north end zone project — the Memorial Stadium Centennial Project — completes for 2026, adding field-level suites, loge boxes, club seating, a new video board and LED lighting, and bringing capacity to approximately 65,000. The first game in the finished stadium is September 3, 2026.
The Rock M sits in the north end zone, 90 feet wide and 95 feet high, first built by freshmen in 1927 from rock left over from stadium construction. Seniors traditionally take a rock as a keepsake after their final home game. During the renovation the M was carefully carved out, preserved and reinstalled, with crews returning the rocks by spring 2026.
