The rivalry, rooted in the Big Eight and Big 12 eras, resumed in 2024 as an SEC matchup. Their first meeting took place on November 12, 1902, when Missouri defeated Oklahoma 22–5 in Columbia. The teams played annually from 1910 to 1995, excluding 1918, with Oklahoma enjoying long stretches of dominance, including a 14-game winning streak from 1946 to 1959 and a 77–0 win in Norman in 1986—the largest margin in the series. Missouri won four of the first five games in the early 1900s and later pulled off a notable upset in 2010, defeating No. 3 Oklahoma 36–27 in Columbia. Oklahoma responded with a 38–28 victory in 2011, their final Big 12 meeting before Missouri’s move to the SEC.
